Sheryl Crow could take lessons from Love Psychedelico on creating cool, sexy chick rock.  Listening to them, it's all smooth rock with none of the bubblegum pop often forced on female singers in Japan.  The power duo of vocalist Kumi and guitarist Naoki channel hippie beats, smart lyrics and pretty vocal harmonies with a grungy Brit rock edge.  Since 1997 they've been pushing the alternative chick sound with a heavy dose of blues and folk from Naoki and Kumi's effortless mix of English and Japanese lyrics.

THIS IS LOVE PSYCHEDELICO marks the US debut of Love Psychedelico on Hacktone Records and features a mix of songs from previous Japanese releases.  It could technically be a "best of" album for long time fans and could it mark a turning point with some new material?  Much like their approach to the US market, the album opens up with the low key "Standing Bird" before rolling into the hip shaking "Your Song."  Each song after is a discovery of cool, funky sounds and each track is just that little bit of different to keep things interesting.  "Neverland" is like the softer side of Zeppelin, trippy folk rock that's beautiful.  "Oh sing it to me," Love Psychedelico, "we are living in a nowhere land" without you.
