Taste of Chaos 2008

(Asbury Park, NJ)

Like some demented pied piper, MUCC's Tatsurou directed a swirling mass of moshing fans during their set on the Taste of Chaos Tour in Asbury Park, NJ.  No English words required here, except for an MC read off the floor and a whole lot of "Do you wanna rock n' roll!"  MUCC is one of three Japanese bands touring in North America courtesy of the tour's organizer Kevin Lyman.

You’d think the fans would be a mixed bag, but the American lineup of Avenge Sevenfold, Atreyu, Bullet for My Valentine and Idiot Pilot compliments the Japanese lineup of  MUCC, D’espairsRay and The UNDERNEATH.  Both sides feature heavy rock with a fair dosage of metal and NIN-esque electronic sounds thrown in.  Emo haircuts, an overabundance of black, studded belts and skinny jeans aren’t the only things the artist’s fans have in common, they also share a love of great music that defies language and international borders.
